On November 20, 2020, at 5:30 a.m., the Sangamon County Sheriff DIRT team executed a search warrant in the 1000 block of North 12th St.
A narcotics investigation by DIRT resulted in the issuance of the warrant for the residence of James B. Erwin, age 41. The Sheriff’s Tactical Response Unit (TRU) served the warrant along with DIRT.
Arrested and charged were James “Benny” Erwin and Bobbyjo Hamilton, age 36. Hamilton also shares the same residence with Erwin, according to police.
Both were charged with 3 counts of Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Meth, Crack Cocaine, Heroin; Class X and two Class 1).
DIRT seized 23. 5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 3.8 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 2.2 grams of suspected heroin and 6.2 grams of an unknown suspected narcotic. Also seized was $2400.00.
According to records, Erwin is also currently on parole for narcotics and is out on bond on two unrelated 2020 Sangamon County narcotic cases.
