Sheriff Jack Campbell: No additional charges after woman in this mornings stand-off escaped hospital

Springfield, Illinois – Sangamon County Sheriff, Jack Campbell tells us that the woman in this mornings stand-off will not face additional charges for escaping from Memorial Medical Center.

Around 6:33 p.m., Sangamon County Sheriff Deputies responded to the 1000 block of N. Franklin Ave after getting reports that the woman in this mornings stand-off escaped Memorial Medical Center.

The 23 year old woman was involuntarily committed to Memorial after Sheriff Deputies responded to the 3000 block of East Andrew Road around 7:40 a.m.

Originally, the call this morning to police was for a civil disturbance between neighbors, but deputies say while they were on the call, the woman pointed a compound bow at them.

Tactical Team and Negotiators were able to take the woman into custody around 12:25 p.m., without incident.

At this time, charges are being reviewed by the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office for this mornings incident.

Reports from this afternoon’s escape said the woman did sustain a cut to her leg and a window of a residence was broken.

Sheriff Campbell told us tonight that the woman will not face additional charges for breaking a window to a residence. “No extra charges, as the resident did not want to press them,” Sheriff Campbell said.

The woman, who was not in custody, was returned to Memorial Medical Center.

At this time, it is not clear how the woman was able to escape from Memorial Medical Center.
